You're probably right on that score, Sean.

Another factor that impedes any progress around Bristol is the long time historicially it has taken any idea to come to fruition in the Bristol area following its proposal. Remember, it took some 50 years after the size of vessels got too big for them to come up the Avon before Bristol's main docks moved 8 miles down the estuary to Avonmouth.

I'm pretty sure a regular dredging would not be very cost prohibitive. It's the fact that no-one would ever want to take responsibility for it, that means it will never get off the drawing board :(

Ha ha ha. I started laughing after reading that post. You know what? Capita does not give an interpreter a job if it is not within 50 miles range. An admin usually says the following: we have a job but it is too far from you. It makes no sense how experienced an interpreter is, only miles matter. Poor admins are simply scared to assign an interpreter if a job is 53 miles away from his/ her address. What a perfect management :)

Sorry, I can't agree with you there, Mark: rights and freedom have nothing to do with monetary value and I've taken an interest in rights and freedom for the last 4 decades, during which time my pocket has been mostly continuously empty.

Well didn't you see this coming? They've started privatisation of the courts (under Liebour's watch I believe) and the Cons have laid foundation for privatising the police. The interpreter system has been handed over to a company that i'm sure only exists because nobody with a brain has thought to look at why it exists. Why are you so special?

Perhaps solicitors and lawyers should have thought about something more than their own purse strings when the likes of the Terrorism act was introduced. Our rights have been under attack for years now. The only time you've chosen to notice however is when it hits you in your pocket.

An aggravating circumstance is that the MoJ knows perfectly well that it can remedy this appalling situation by simply scrapping the contract with Capita and reverting to the National Agreement which had worked well for many years. There is a solution available to it which it chooses not to take, simply to avoid embarrassment for those few politicians that were foolish enough to place their faith in the bizarre ramblings of a so-called entrepreneur.
