{"id":11343,"date":"2022-06-24T13:49:09","date_gmt":"2022-06-24T13:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=11343"},"modified":"2022-06-24T13:51:12","modified_gmt":"2022-06-24T13:51:12","slug":"dorries-war-on-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=11343","title":{"rendered":"Dorries goes to war &#8211; again and again and&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the beginning was World War One (1914-18), then World War 2 (1939-45).<\/p>\r\n<p>There have been various conflicts since 1945, but none has qualified being counted as a World War (note capitalisation) and their number has remained stuck firmly on two.<\/p>\r\n<p>Until today.<\/p>\r\n<p>Step forward one Nadine Vanessa Dorries, inexplicably elevated way beyond her subterranean ignorance threshold to serve as Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, concerning whose appointment former Tory Party chairman Chris Patten is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2022\/jun\/12\/chris-patten-we-have-a-populist-government-that-is-fatally-not-popular\">on record as saying<\/a>: &#8220;And nobody should ever see the words \u2018Nadine Dorries\u2019 and \u2018culture secretary\u2019 in the same sentence&#8221;.<\/p>\r\n<p>Following yesterday&#8217;s humiliating by-election defeats in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-devon-61918899\">Tiverton &amp; Honiton<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-leeds-61896693\">Wakefield<\/a>, Nadine fearlessly took to social media as cheerleader in chief for the Cult of the Boris, tweeting the following.<\/p>\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2022\/06\/Dorries_WW11.jpg\" alt=\"Tweet reads This gov will remain relentlessly focused and continue to deliver for people during a post pandemic mid-war, global cost of living challenge which no Prime Minister or gov has faced the likes of since WW11\" width=\"600\" height=\"540\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2022\/06\/Dorries_WW11.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2022\/06\/Dorries_WW11-300x270.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>\r\n<p>World War 11?<\/p>\r\n<p>That&#8217;s nine more than are acknowledged by the generally accepted historical record.<\/p>\r\n<p>Whether Nadine was tweeting under the influence of digital dyslexia, innumeracy or something psychoactive has yet to come to light, but remember that part of Nadine&#8217;s brief is matters digital and the above tweet shows she cannot even use a mobile phone app &#8211; an iPhone Twitter client &#8211; competently, which bodes ill for this country.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the beginning was World War One (1914-18), then World War 2 (1939-45).
