As regards swearing, his sister has more than once revealed that when she and my late father were on a bus once, he admonished fellow passengers for swearing because women were present.<\/p>\n<p>As regards swearing, step forward over-promoted former fireplace salesman <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gavin_Williamson\">&#8220;Sir&#8221; Gavin Alexander Williamson <abbr title=\"Commander of the British Empire\">CBE<\/abbr> MP<\/a>, the dishonourable member for <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/South_Staffordshire_(UK_Parliament_constituency)\">South Staffordshire<\/a> who has been inexplicably elevated to cabinet rank (again!) as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Minister_without_portfolio_(United_Kingdom)\">Minister of State without Portfolio<\/a>, who appears to have been taught and abide by completely different standards of social conduct to those of your correspondent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2022\/nov\/05\/williamson-sent-expletive-laden-messages-to-chief-whip\">News has emerged over the weekend<\/a> that Williamson sent &#8216;expletive-laden&#8217; text messages to the then Conservative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/site-information\/glossary\/whips\/\">chief whip<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wendy_Morton\">Wendy Morton<\/a> all moaning about not being invited to attend the late queen&#8217;s funeral.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2022\/11\/Oliver_Dowden_MP.jpg\" alt=\"The right dishonourable Oliver Dowden\" width=\"150\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-12043\" \/>According to the messages published by today&#8217;s Sunday Times, Williamson accused Morton of exploiting the Queen\u2019s death for political purposes, particularly as he was out of favour at the time with the English Empire&#8217;s shortest serving ever prime minister, one Elizabeth Mary Truss, now safely removed from high office and returned to the back benches.<\/p>\n<p>The actual words quoted by the press reveal that Williamson has a fine command of monosyllabic swear words having their roots in Old English (<em>which some still call Anglo-Saxon. Ed.<\/em>), particularly ones beginning with <em>f<\/em> and <em>s<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did Williamson use foul language towards a woman, but this morning his cabinet colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oliver_Dowden\">Oliver Dowden<\/a> (<em>also inexplicably honoured with a CBE like Williamson. Ed.<\/em>)defended Williamson on Sky News\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sky.com\/watch\/title\/series\/391403ae-0bba-4aae-8541-1b8b61bc0d2e\/sophy-ridge-on-sunday-391403ae-0bba-4aae-8541-1b8b61bc0d2e\">Sophy Ridge on Sunday<\/a> programme, claiming Williamson&#8217;s offensive text messages were sent &#8216;<em>in the heat of the moment<\/em>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>I blame both of their sets of parents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Your &#8216;umble scribe likes to think he was properly brought up: polite, courteous, not swearing people, particularly women, and such like.
