Ed.<\/em>) has been caught <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collinsdictionary.com\/dictionary\/english\/in-flagrante-delicto\"><em>in flagrante delicto<\/em><\/a> asleep at his\/her desk.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Today the Bristol (Evening) Post\/Bristol Live <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/whats-on\/shopping\/primarks-retro-12-dress-thats-9005675\">published a piece<\/a> on its website of great interest to price-conscious followers of fashion that would enable them to save hundreds of pounds, as per the screenshot below.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_13509\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13509\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2023\/12\/600px_huge_boss.png\" alt=\"Headline - Primark's 'retro' \u00a312 dress that's very similar to \u00a31,300 Huge Boss item\" width=\"600\" height=\"596\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13509\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2023\/12\/600px_huge_boss.png 600w, https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2023\/12\/600px_huge_boss-300x298.png 300w, https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2023\/12\/600px_huge_boss-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2023\/12\/600px_huge_boss-144x144.png 144w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13509\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A saving of \u00a31,288? That&#8217;s Hugo!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\r\n<p>I&#8217;ve never heard of <em>Huge Boss<\/em> myself, but the paper&#8217;s author Emma Grimshaw clearly has as the name appears not just in the headline, but in the copy itself.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<blockquote>Primark fans are rushing to buy the chain&#8217;s &#8216;retro&#8217; black dress. The \u00a312 item also looks very similar to a Huge Boss outfit, but costs a fraction of the price.<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n<p>Your &#8216;umble scribe has, however, heard of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hugoboss.com\/uk\/women\/\">Hugo Boss <abbr title=\"Aktiengesellschaft\">AG<\/abbr> of Metzingen, Germany<\/a> which like its rival Huge Boss as per the Post\/Bristol Live also sells &#8216;<em>luxury<\/em>&#8216;, i.e. overpriced, clothing and fashion accessories.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>In the world of intellectual\/imaginary property, Huge Boss&#8217; behaviour is known as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Passing_off\"><em>passing off<\/em><\/a>, i.e. misrepresenting the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Goodwill_(accounting)\">goodwill<\/a> of an established company.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>If the Bristol (Evening) Post\/Bristol Live ever gets round to reporting the trade mark dispute between Hugo Boss AG and <em>Huge Boss<\/em>, your &#8216;umble scribe hopes it employs someone who knows how to proofread copy to do the job!. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the general torpor that obtains around this time of year, the proofreader at the Temple Way Ministry of Truth, otherwise know as the Bristol (Evening) Post\/Bristol Live (a Retch plc publication.
