{"id":14474,"date":"2024-08-22T11:04:59","date_gmt":"2024-08-22T11:04:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=14474"},"modified":"2024-08-23T09:10:58","modified_gmt":"2024-08-23T09:10:58","slug":"american-does-irony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=14474","title":{"rendered":"America does irony"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n<p>A common misconception about US citizens is that Americans <em>en bloc<\/em> cannot do irony.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>This is known as <a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.cambridge.org\/dictionary\/english\/stereotype\"><em>stereotyping<\/em><\/a>, i.e. people attributing a set idea they have about what someone or something is like, especially an idea that is wrong.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The stereotyping was misproved (yet again!) earlier this week by the post below on the former social media site now known as X (<em>mostly for the rating of its content. Ed.<\/em>) in relation to the disgraced 45th President of the United States, adjudicated sexual predator, condemned business fraudster, convicted felon and compulsive liar, one Donald John Trump.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2024\/08\/trump_felonies.jpg\" alt=\"Post reads Sorry, but I have to agree with Trump. Crime is out of control. Just look at New York.
