{"id":3968,"date":"2014-04-10T07:43:49","date_gmt":"2014-04-10T07:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=3968"},"modified":"2014-04-11T06:12:21","modified_gmt":"2014-04-11T06:12:21","slug":"odf-recommended-for-galicias-public-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=3968","title":{"rendered":"ODF recommended for Galicia&#8217;s public sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2014\/04\/Coat_of_Arms_of_Galicia_Spain.png\" alt=\"Galicia&#039;s coat of arms\" width=\"130\" height=\"239\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3969\" \/>Joinup, the EU&#8217;s public sector open source news website, <a href=\"https:\/\/joinup.ec.europa.eu\/community\/osor\/news\/galicia-recommends-use-open-document-format\">reports<\/a> that the government of Spain&#8217;s autonomous region of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Galicia_%28Spain%29\">Galicia<\/a> is recommending that the region&#8217;s public sector organisations adopt Open Document Format (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/OpenDocument\">ODF<\/a>, <abbr title=\"International Standards Organisation\">ISO<\/abbr> 26300) for editable electronic documents and <abbr title=\"Portable Document Format\">PDF<\/abbr> for non-editable electronic documents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will facilitate the re-use of documents and the creation of derivative works&#8221;, the government writes in a guide which was published on 26 March, Document Freedom Day (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=3901\" title=\"Today is DFD 2014\">posts passim<\/a><\/em>). Public sector bodies are also being advised to make their documents available using a copyleft licence, such as Creative Commons&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/3.0\/\">CC-by-SA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The guide &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mancomun.org\/obteraxuda\/documentosdereferencia\/detalle\/nova\/guia-de-boas-practicas-para-a-publicacion-de-obras-documentais-da-xunta-de-galicia\/\">Boas pr\u00e1cticas para a liberaci\u00f3n de publicaci\u00f3ns da Xunta de Galicia<\/a>&#8216; (Good Practice Guide for liberating Galicia government documents) has been written by Galicia&#8217;s free software resource centre, the &#8216;Oficina de Coordinaci\u00f3n de Software Libre&#8217; (<a href=\"http:\/\/imit.xunta.es\/portal\/estrategia2\/Software_libre\/software_libre.html?__locale=es\">Ocfloss<\/a>).
