{"id":4200,"date":"2014-05-22T07:05:01","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T07:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=4200"},"modified":"2014-05-22T07:06:07","modified_gmt":"2014-05-22T07:06:07","slug":"shredder-poll-ukip-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=4200","title":{"rendered":"Shredder poll: UKIP wins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All election materials delivered to my home are recycled and those containing my personal detailed are shredded before recycling.<\/p>\n<p>Each election I keep a tally of the number of communications received from each candidate or party, which has acquired the name of the shredder poll over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Today the UK votes in elections for the European Parliament (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=4114\" title=\"Euro election hustings: a view from the chair\">posts passim<\/a><\/em>). In addition, one-third of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bristol.gov.uk\/page\/council-and-democracy\/elections-2014\">council wards in Bristol are also up for election, although my ward of Lawrence Hill isn&#8217;t one of them.<\/p>\n<p><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bristol.gov.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/council_and_democracy\/elections\/Statement%20of%20Parties%20and%20Individual%20Candidates%20Nominated%20-%20European%20Election%202014.pdf\">Click here for a full list of candidates for the European Parliament elections<\/a> (PDF).<\/p>\n<p>The lack of a council election in my ward could account for the low level of election leaflets received in the run-up to the poll: a mere 6.<\/p>\n<p>The graphic below shows the results of the shredder poll.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2014\/05\/shredder.png\" alt=\"bar chart showing shredder poll results\" width=\"488\" height=\"285\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2014\/05\/shredder.png 488w, https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2014\/05\/shredder-300x175.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well done UKIP!
