{"id":4770,"date":"2014-08-28T15:02:14","date_gmt":"2014-08-28T15:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=4770"},"modified":"2014-08-28T16:24:02","modified_gmt":"2014-08-28T16:24:02","slug":"welcome-libreitalia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=4770","title":{"rendered":"Welcome LibreItalia!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier today the birth was announced of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libreitalia.it\/\">LibreItalia<\/a>, which has been founded by Italian members of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentfoundation.org\/\">The Document Foundation<\/a> and has the objective of bringing together all the Italian users of the free and open source <a href=\"https:\/\/www.libreoffice.org\/\">LibreOffice<\/a> productivity suite to speed up the adoption and promotion of the suite that is designed as a free individual productivity and office automation tool capable of closing the digital divide and breaking down the barriers to information technology for the poorest in society.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2014\/08\/LibreItaliaLogo.png\" alt=\"LibreItalia logo\" width=\"600\" height=\"157\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4771\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2014\/08\/LibreItaliaLogo.png 600w, https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2014\/08\/LibreItaliaLogo-300x78.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition, LibreItalia will promote the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/OpenDocument\">ODF\/Open Document Format<\/a> (ISO\/IEC 26300) standard for official documents, which was recently adopted by the UK government (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=4569\" title=\"UK government opts for open standards\">posts passim<\/a><\/em>) as a template for all content, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/?title=PDF\/A\">PDF\/A<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The initial Board of Directors, which will be in post for two years, consists of seven members, five of whom are directly involved in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libreumbria.it\/\">LibreUmbria<\/a> project (<em>which was originally established to promote the use of LibreOffice in public sector organisations in the Umbria region. Ed.<\/em>): Sonia Montegiove, Chair; Marina Latini, Vice-Chair and Chief Technical Officer; Giordano Alborghetti, Treasurer; and Andrea Castellani, Alfredo Parisi, Gabriele Ponzo and Italo Vignoli, directors.<\/p>\n<p>All the new association&#8217;s news about LibreOffice is featured on the LibreItalia website. To become a member of LibreItalia, you&#8217;ll need to fill in an application using the relevant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libreitalia.it\/diventa-socio\">form<\/a> after reading the site&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libreitalia.it\/chi-siamo\">About us<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libreitalia.it\/statuto\">Articles of Association<\/a> pages.
