{"id":7870,"date":"2017-06-02T13:11:02","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T13:11:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=7870"},"modified":"2017-06-02T13:18:43","modified_gmt":"2017-06-02T13:18:43","slug":"lincoln-blue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=7870","title":{"rendered":"Lincoln Blue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are 6 days to go until the polls open for Theresa May&#8217;s snap election that she wasn&#8217;t going to call and the war of words is really hotting up.<\/p>\n<p>This blog has previously drawn attention to Theresa May&#8217;s description of the Conservatives as the &#8220;<em>Nasty Party<\/em>&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=7731\"><em>posts passim<\/em><\/a>) and how under her premiership, she and her members have striven to be as nasty as they can.<\/p>\n<p>This has continued with increasing fury during the election campaign and has intensified as the Tories&#8217; lead in the opinion polls has narrowed, as shown by this series of tweets by the party&#8217;s faithful in Grantham, birthplace of the grocer&#8217;s daughter who went on to become the Conservatives&#8217; revered Leaderene (<em>once known as the &#8220;Milk Snatcher&#8221;. Ed.<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2017\/06\/conservatives_rouges.jpg\" alt=\"screenshot of tweets demonising and insulting people on benefits\" width=\"583\" height=\"701\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7871\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2017\/06\/conservatives_rouges.jpg 583w, https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2017\/06\/conservatives_rouges-250x300.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In that series of postings, Lincolnshire Tories have been faithfully parroting the bile the party has been encouraging their allies in the right-wing mainstream media since their return to government in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Note too, the spelling error in the final tweet: &#8220;<em>rouges<\/em>&#8221; instead of &#8220;<em>rogues<\/em>&#8220;. It must be an orthographical error as I can conceive of no predictive text application that would come up with such a substitute.<\/p>\n<p>Any rouge, otherwise known these days as blusher, is a cosmetic product and thus quite appropriate to this load of made-up nonsense. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Since the posting of those tweets, the account has been suspended by Twitter, most likely for abusive tweets and\/or behaviour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are 6 days to go until the polls open for Theresa May&#8217;s snap election that she wasn&#8217;t going to call and the war of words is really hotting up.
