{"id":7912,"date":"2017-07-16T08:17:31","date_gmt":"2017-07-16T08:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=7912"},"modified":"2017-07-20T13:19:30","modified_gmt":"2017-07-20T13:19:30","slug":"tidy-barton-hill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=7912","title":{"rendered":"Tidy Barton Hill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2017\/05\/200pxclean-streets-logo.jpg\" alt=\"Bristol Clean Streets logo\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7812\" \/>Yesterday, along with Kurt James, Bristol City Council&#8217;s co-ordinator for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bristol.gov.uk\/bins-recycling\/clean-streets-campaign\">Bristol Clean Streets campaign<\/a>, and local resident Eric Green, I joined a group of volunteers from <a href=\"http:\/\/tawfiqmasjid.com\/\">Tawfiq Mosque<\/a> in Barton Hill (<em>usually rendered as &#8220;Bart Nil&#8221; in the local vernacular. Ed.<\/em>\ud83d\ude09 ) for a community litter pick.<\/p>\n<p>Starting at 10.30 in the morning, we split into 6 groups and tackled six different parts of the area for the next 2 hours, picking up litter and noting any larger, <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.bristol.gov.uk\/forms\/fly-tipping#step1\">fly-tipped items for reporting<\/a> later.<\/p>\n<p>While picking, we did get passers-by thanking us for our efforts, but ultimately I&#8217;m sure all those taking part would prefer it if our fellow citizens didn&#8217;t mess the area up  in the first place. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>It was a successful event and I was most encouraged by the cheerful enthusiasm and commitment of those involved.
