{"id":7958,"date":"2017-08-19T13:25:30","date_gmt":"2017-08-19T13:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=7958"},"modified":"2017-09-10T11:32:03","modified_gmt":"2017-09-10T11:32:03","slug":"visit-bart-nil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=7958","title":{"rendered":"Visit Bart Nil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The shadowy East Bristol Tourist Board has recently been in action, welcoming visitors to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barton_Hill,_Bristol\">Barton Hill<\/a>, an ancient settlement recorded as <a href=\"http:\/\/opendomesday.org\/place\/ST5973\/barton-regis\/\"><em>Barton [Regis]<\/em><\/a> in the Gloucestershire pages of the 11th century Domesday Book.<\/p>\n<p>Barton itself derives from the old English &#8216;<em>bere-tun<\/em>&#8216; corn farm, outlying grange of barley farm.<\/p>\n<p>From the visit of the Domesday assessors to the present day much has changed. The area still has one church, now St Luke&#8217;s, but the two mills mentioned in 1086 have long vanished. However, the area&#8217;s changes over the centuries &#8211; and those of surrounding districts &#8211; are being charted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhhg.co.uk\/\">Barton Hill History Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7962\" src=\"http:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/sites\/23\/2017\/08\/600px_bartnil.jpg\" alt=\"grafitti reads you are now entering Barton Hill.
