{"id":9969,"date":"2021-06-18T09:05:21","date_gmt":"2021-06-18T09:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xislblogs.xtreamlab.net\/slwoods\/?p=9969"},"modified":"2021-06-18T09:21:11","modified_gmt":"2021-06-18T09:21:11","slug":"electrifying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slwoods.co.uk\/?p=9969","title":{"rendered":"Electrifying"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>One of the staples of local news reporting is the activities of the emergency services &#8211; police, ambulance, coastguard, fire service &#8211; and in this regard Bristol Live &#8211; formerly the Bristol (Evening) Post is no exception.<\/p>\r\n<p>Yesterday&#8217;s online edition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/loud-bangs-smoke-under-bristol-5540231\"> reported on the fire service&#8217;s attendance<\/a> at a possible incident on Colston Street (<em>soon to revert to its original name of Steep Street after the city&#8217;s Victorian great and good renamed it after a slave trader. Ed.<\/em>).<\/p>\r\n<p>However, once again the reporter&#8217;s poor English is disappointing to read.<\/p>\r\n<p>In the second paragraph readers are informed that<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>The alarm was sounded after what was believed to be an electric fire in Colston Street at around 8.22pm.<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>Where was the said domestic appliance left? In the roadway?
